PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a guiding introducer for introducing an ablating and/or mapping catheters for the treatment of atrial flutter and atrial fibrillation in the right atrium. SOLUTION: A guiding introducer comprises an elongated a first area having a length from the insertion point to the heart, a second area having a C-shaped curve and a third area curved outwardly on a plane formed by the first area and the second area. The introducer is firmly secured in an iliac vein with a portion of the first area and a portion of the third area contacting the blood vessel wall on one side of the iliac vein and the C-shaped protrusion of the second area contacting the blood vessel wall on the opposite side.
