PURPOSE: To execute smooth engagement of an input clutch at an ordinary time and shorten an engaging time while preventing engaging shock at starting an engine in low oil temperature by changing characteristic of oil pressure supplied to a hydraulic servo between at ordinary and at the time of starting the engine in a low temperature. CONSTITUTION: Oil temperature and oil pressure control means 3, 5 of an automatic transmission are provided with a means judging whether it is changed into a forward running range at first after starting an engine or not when changeover to the forward running range is carried out, and a means judging whether the detected oil temperature by a signal from an oil temperature detecting means Sn6 is lower than the fixed oil temperature or not. Further an oil pressure raising means is provided, which suddenly raises oil pressure supplied to a hydraulic servo up to the necessary engaging pressure of a clutch C1 when the oil temperature is judged to be lower than the fixed oil temperature at the first changeover after starting the engine by these judging means, and in the case of NO of one of both judgements, gradually raises the oil pressure supplied to the hydraulic servo up to the necessary engaging pressure of the clutch C1 based on fixed raising characteristic. |
