PURPOSE: To obtain a carbon-containing refractory for continuous casting, which mechanical strength is increased without adverse effect on resistance to spalling and corrosion. CONSTITUTION: A starting mixture containing 3-40wt.% of a carbon source material, 0.1-10wt.% of zirconium nitride and 50-96.9wt.% of other refractories is molded and fired to give the objective carbon-containing refractory in which texture zirconium oxide bonds are included. This carbon-containing refractory is produced by molding the starting mixture containing 3-40wt.% of a carbon source material, 0.1-10wt.% of zirconium nitride and 50-96.9wt.% of other refractories into a prescribed form using a binder and firing the molded product in a non-oxidizing atmosphere over 650 deg.C. |
