The stator of a piezoelectric motor has a body with a deformable region and a rigid region axially displaced one from the other. Piezoelectric transducers (9) are lodged in the space between the deformable (2) and rigid zones (3), so their axial expansion and contraction under an applied electric potential causes deformation of the deformable zone. These deformations are amplified by the shape of the deformable zone and transmitted to a friction coupling zone (7). The friction surfaces are at the outer periphery of a dish-shaped deformable zone. The piezoelectric transducers are positioned to increase the friction force when the transducers expand. |
