The distributor comprises a reception tray (10) for envelopes taken from a pile (28) inside an enclosure. It has a system for ejecting individual envelopes through an outlet slot (24) in the enclosure wall (22). The ejection system comprises a rotating roller ejector (16) having a peripheral surface which grips the front edge of the upper envelope on the pile. An envelope guide plate (32), which is advanced by the roller ejector, has a first plane part (32a) slightly inclined upwards from its front edge and a folded down part (32b). The guide plate is pivoted about a horizontal spindle (34) adjacent to its front edge. A deflector (18), located between the guide plate and the outlet slot, diverts the envelopes advanced on the guide plate towards the outlet slot. The guide plate has a friction coating which comes into contact with the envelope lower face when it is advanced onto the plate. |
