Suspension conveyor for motor vehicle bodies on assembly line

The conveyor consists of two parallel elevated guideways each supporting an endless drive from which are suspended a series of pairs of hangers for load-carrying surfaces. The drive mechanisms are arranged in two synchronised pairs on the inner faces of the guideways, with return runs on the external faces of the guideways. Each drive is formed by an endless chain (16) which drives supports (17) which include guide wheels running along fixed rails (18,20) of the guideways. Lateral supports (19), attached to the supports, support the hangers pivotably at their free ends (28).
