A comber has nippers (1) mounted in fixed bearings. An assembly (4) which swings on two arms (6,7) of different lengths carries a step-driven take-off apron (41) wrapped round a detaching roller (31) and a delivery roller (51). The drive for the apron (41) is taken directly from the roller (31,51) which is connected to the machine drive.
