Sealing process for cast concrete sections

The flexible hose (12) is positioned along a firm surface prior to casting the adjacent concrete section. The hose is designed to support the pressure of the concrete, eg. by expanding its diameter and then reducing same to remove the hose when the concrete is set. This leaves a clear hole into which the sealing compound can be injected. The sealing compound can also be injected into the space between the collapsed hose and the concrete, requiring less sealing compound. Different types of variable diameter hose can be used, e.g. a heat shrink hose which is collapsed, after the concrete has set, by an integral electric heating element.
