An on-screen display circuit for a video display appliance displays on-screen signals in a specific position of a display screen and includes an on-screen processing section 5 for providing the on-screen signals under the control of a microcomputer 4, a switching section 7 which is controlled by a fast blanking signal FB from the on-screen processing section 5 to select and provide one of the on-screen signals and input video signals, a video output section 3 and a blanking control section 8 which is controlled by a sync signal separated from the video signals and the fast blanking signal FB from the on-screen processing section 5 to provide a blanking signal to the video output section 3.
