Polymer seal for preventing passage of dangerous gases and moisture into building from surrounding ground

The seal for preventing passage of both hazardous gas, esp. radon, and moisture, from the ground, into a building comprises a barrier layer formed from horizontal sealing bands (3) on each wall, and a horizontal sealing sheet (5) lying between the ground (1) and the floor layers (7) of the inner room (12). The barrier layer consists of at least one sealing band (3) with a free edge extending into the room (12) and overlapped by and joined to the sealing sheet (5) to form one or more sealing surfaces (6) between them. Both sealing bands (3) and sealing sheet (5) are made from a gas impermeable, moisture resistant plastic.
