The tiles are held against a floor or wall surface that has been coated by a layer of material containing ferrous magnetic particles. The layer is relatively thin and can be in the form of a liquid that dries on the surface and then hardens. This may be an acrylic material with 60-80% by weight of ferrous particles.</p>
