The gearwheel comprises a toothed gear (1) and a magnetic toothed disc (2). The disc is magnetically attracted to, and has the same diameter as, the gear, but has a different number of teeth. The toothed disc has at least one tooth fewer than the gearwheel. The disc may be of plastics with magnetic segments (11).
