The two wheel washers (2,3) which have rotary spray jets are arranged at a distance (a) of about 700 mm off-set from each other in the relative movement direction (A) of the vehicle with the spacing corresponding to the diameter of the largest wheel to be washed or being larger than this. A switch device (10,14) is provided which allows alternating operation of the two wheel washers at least for the time in which the vehicle wheel being washed is located in the washing area of the associated wheel washer. A common high pressure pump (8) is associated with the two washers. The change-over switch has a reversal valve (10) so that the water from the pump is supplied alternately to one or other washer.
