Hydraulic opening procedure for pontoon bridge

The pontoon sections of the bridge are retained in sheet pile casings, and move in side rails. Vertical rollers are located on the land-sided corners of the pontoons, and on the front end points of the sheet pile casings. The pontoons are moved in the direction of travel for opening and closing. Positioning of the pontoons during opening/closing movements is via automatic laser control and by the use of cable winches.
