Tool holder for use in turning

The turning tool holder has a base holder (10) whose tool axis (24) is vertical to the rotational axis of a tool carrier (32). An exchangeable cutter body (12) fits into the holder and accepts exchangeable cutting inserts. The base holder has support surfaces formed at right angles to the tool axis on which mounting faces of the cutter body are positioned so as to be removable. The cutter body is secured against all relative movement between the support surfaces of the base holder and the mounting faces of the cutter body by precision-fit elements which are profiled mating faces. The cutting inserts are located in pockets on the cutter body.
