A use of a compound of the formula: wherein R<1> is hydrogen, lower alkyl, lower alkenyl or N,N-di(lower)alkylaminomethyl, R<2> is hydrogen, lower alkyl or halogen, R<3> is imidazolyl or pyridyl, each of which may have suitable substituent(s), and R<4> is hydrogen, lower alkyl, lower alkenyl or hydroxy(lower)alkyl and R<5> is hydrogen, hydroxy or acyloxy, or R<4> and R<5> are linked together to form an additional bond, or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof, for treating ischemic diseases.
