The method saves water for washing and reduces wear of clothes by detecting mass of the clothes precisely. The method includes steps of : detecting water level in the spin drum; sensing the mass of the laundry by counting pulses from a hole sensor of the motor if there is no water in spin drum; pouring water in the spin drum to a reference level; draining water; sensing the laundry mass again; comparing the second mass with the first mass; finding the whether clothes are wet or dry in the initial stage; and pouring washing water to adequate level according to the clothes condition.
