Automatic adjustment of illumination parameters for dental image generation device operating on linear tomographic principles

The method involves a first image generation sequence, at whose start the illumination parameters are set, using a direction (11a,11b) ensuring safe transmission through a thick region of skull. A second sequence in a second direction (12-17) involves varying the illumination parameters with a predefined variation under program control. Alternatively, the illumination parameters can be automatically altered during the second sequence on the basis of new measurement results and program-controlled variations. The parameters can be reset for different regions and illumination directions.
