Protection arrangement for machine tool

A machine tool (10) has a working area (21) for the workpiece (23) and a protective cover (11) which engages with a door (12) which moves between two end stops. At one end stop, the door and the cover form a continuous covering over the workpiece. At the other end stop, an opening is formed which allows access to the workpiece. As the door moves between the end stops, its lower edge (26) describes a curved track (27) over the workpiece. One end (32) of the door is located in a sliding hinge which allows rotation and sliding. A holding arrangement which is a double-acting piston and cylinder unit (36) is located between the door and the machine tool.
