For retention of the filter medium, the end wall (3) of the filter drum (1) of a drum filter is provided with a bevelled taper and/or is rounded and forms an inner conical annular bead (5) spaced from the drum rim with an annular groove (6) at its edge. Circular segments (7) fitting precisely are screwed to the drum end wall, so that the projection (8) of the segment fits into the annular groove. Pref. the segments consist of a material of lower hardness than the filter medium (4) or are coated on the pendant surfaces to the annular bead with a material of this type or a material composite.
