Sound filter device with a high-pass characteristic for sound waves, which comprises one or more energy stores (1,30), which are spaced apart in the sound propagation direction, and which effect a sound pressure drop without substantial change in the sound velocity of the impinging sound waves, and in which sound energy of the impinging sound waves can be stored in a fashion proportional to the square of the sound pressure drop, the energy stores being held by means of a retaining device (2,20). The energy stores may consist of prestressed diaphragms, rigid or elastic plates or other vibrating structures. The retaining device may be in the form of a tube (2, Fig. 17, not shown), or the diaphragms may be connected by a bolt (10, Fig. 10, not shown), with the retaining device being in the form of an end plate (20, Fig. 10).
