Described is a device (10) for sealing an annular gap (11) between an inner and an outer body (12, 13), the device having several annular segments (14), at least some of which are made of elastomeric material, which fill the edge of the gap (11) and whose ends mesh with each other in the longitudinal direction. The device also has pressure elements (19, 20) which extend longitudinally along the annular segments (21 to 25), plus gripping means (16) which act in conjunction with the pressure elements (19, 20) and pass through the pressure elements and the annular segments (14) to press the annular segments (14) together longitudinally. Each annular segment (14) has at least three shaped-section elements (21 to 25) disposed longitudinally next to each other, the middle one (22, 24) of which having a lower Shore hardness than the outer ones (21, 23, 25). A device of this kind ensures adequate sealing of the gap in all cases and can be manufactured simply and more rapidly, and hence less inexpensively.
