Method of separating pre-shredded damp burnt refuse ash into iron and mineral fractions

The coarse iron particles are separated off magnetically and the oversized particles are screened. The still damp main fraction is then separated magnetically into a damp non-cleaned iron-containing fraction and a still damp iron-low mineral fraction. The damp iron-containing fraction is mixed with a powdered strongly water- binding polyacrylic acid and this mixture is then pulverised and magnetically separated into dry clean iron fractions and a mineral fraction. Further pulverisation can be carried out.
