<p>The cost of desulphurization of gases can be reduced by using a material having increased absorption capacity and discarding it after use without any regeneration. The material contains 65-70 wt.% of a technically processed or natural iron oxide having an active iron content as high as possible, a loosening agent (e.g. sawdust or peat), a binder (pref. 10% of cement or binding clay), and calcium carbonate (about 5%) to adjust the alkalinity of teh composn. Water is added to form a paste, which is shaped into balls or small cylinders and dried to a residual moisture content of 5-15%.</p> |
