<p>Drawing off, afterburning and cooling of hot flue gases from steel crucible type melting furnace is performed so that no excessive heat is generated in the pipe and ancillary plant used. The gases are diluted with cold air introduced peripherally into the pipe carrying the gases. The gases are burnt with this air in a section of pipework provided with cooling air passed over fins on the outside of the pipe. An outer pipe is provided for the air passed along the pipe, the air being drawn through by a suction fan.</p> |
