A process for producing an alkylenediaminediorganic acid and salts thereof which comprises conducting a reaction between two organic acids selected from the group consisting of amino acids, derivatives thereof, taurine and derivatives thereof and a bifunctional compound selected from the group consisting of aldehyde compounds, acetal derivatives thereof, dihaloalkanes, derivatives thereof and epichlorohydrin under alkaline conditions.
