PURPOSE:To measure the oil consumption volume with high accuracy by collecting HCl in exhaust gas of an engine using oil whose chlorine concentration is known through a heating furnace, and determinating its chlorine by a fluroescent X-ray analyzing device. CONSTITUTION:As for oil 2, oil to which a chlorine compound of a prescribed quantity is added and whose chlorine concentration is known is used, and by operating an engine 1, sampling of exhaust gas is executed. This exhaust gas is allowed to pass through an acid metallic salt impregnated filter 10 through a heating furnace (by heating it to about 10<3> deg.C, Cl2 in the exhaust gas reacts to moisture in the exhaust gas and is converted to HCl), and HCl in the exhaust gas is collected. Subsequently, the filer 10 is removed from the system and set to a fluorescent X-ray analyzing device 14, and chlorine is determined. Next, by inputting a measuring signal by the analyzing device 14, a measuring signal of a sampling flow rate by a gas meter 13, known chlorine concentration 16 of the oil 2, and an exhaust gas flow rate of the engine 1 measured by a gas meter 17 to an arithmetic part 15, the consumption volume of the oil 2 is calculated, and its result is displayed 18. |
