Method of checking the execution status of a macro

The method of control of script execution under a connectionless protocol such as SNMP makes use of a management program (GE) on the principal computer in the network. The management program sends a get command to the agent software on the other computers on the network, seeking an identification ticket which the agent returns to the management program. The central program then sends a set command to the agent, with the ticket as a parameter. The agent checks the ticket before carrying out the command. The central program can ask the agent for the status as command execution proceeds. When the command is completed the central program issues a quit command to the agent.
