To upwardly pivot a frame 8, about hinges 9, to allow folding vehicle top 4 to be stowed, hydraulic jack 14 is actuated so that slot 18 at the foot of jack cylinder 17 slides down over fixed pivot 19 until the top of the slot abuts the pivot. This initial movement causes the slotted cylinder foot to pull on cable 22 to unlock frame lock 10. Further jack extension pivots the unlocked frame upwards, the slot top pivoting on pivot 19. There is one jack 14 behind each wheel housing 11. To achieve stable end positions for pivot 19 in the slot, opposed leaf springs 23 are arranged at the slot sides. Frame 8 carries boot lid 2 which may be pivoted about hinges 5. Pivot 19 may be provided on the foot of the jack to slide in a stationary slot. |
