[Also in Division C3] A floor covering material comprises a textile floor cover base having a layer of an adhesive composition (see C3 Division abridgment) applied to the reverse side thereof. The composition is pressure sensitive at room temperature so as to be held to a floor surface with adhesive forces when pressed in contact therewith, the composition having a cohesion at room temperature greater than such adhesive forces whereby after pressing the composition in contact with the floor, the covering material can be removed without separation of the composition occurring. The composition is softenable at 60-100‹C so as to adhere to a floor surface with greater adhesive forces than those formed by room temperature pressure adhesion. The composition may be applied in a hot melt state to the textile floor covering base and cooled. The exemplified composition comprises a mixture of polyterpene and polyester resins blended with a mixture of an ethylene-vinyl acetate copolymer and a polyisobutylene.</p> |
