PURPOSE: To improve the bonding strength of a bonding section between a flat sheet and a corrugate sheet and further improve the durability of a honeycomb body by winding up the flat sheet of low bending strength and the corrugated sheet of high bending strength concentrically and alternately to form a cylindrical honeycomb body, heating the honeycomb body and brazing contact sections of the flat sheet and the corrugated sheet. CONSTITUTION: The bending strength of a material for a flat sheet 2 is made lower than that of a corrugated sheet 3, and the flat sheet 2 and the corrugated sheet 3 are wound alternately to form a cylindrical honeycomb body 1, and a brazing material is fed to contact sections of the flat sheet 2 and the corrugated sheet 3. The honeycomb body 1 is exposed in the vacuum at high temperature of, e.g. approximately 1200 deg.C for, e.g. approximately 30 minutes to melt and spread the brazing material allover on the contact sections of the flat sheet 2 and the corrugated sheet 3, and then the honeycomb body 1 is cooled slowly. The bending strength of the flat sheet 2 and that of the corrugated sheet 3 are almost equal to each other, and large thermal stress is not generated concentratedly on either the flat sheet 2 or the corrugated sheet 3 after heating. Thereby the durability of the honeycomb body can be improved. |
