<p>Vulcanised diorganopolysiloxane threads are characterised by possessing a kilometric tensile strength above 1.25, and an elongation at break of at least 300%. The threads are produced by extruding a mixture of the diorganopolysiloxane, a filler and a catalyst through a spinneret at an ordinary temp., drawing the thread at ordinary temp. to 1-1.5 X, heat treating at 170-320 degrees C for 5 mins. to 0.1 sec., and drawing at ordinary temp. to 1.2-4X. The diorganopolysiloxane threads have excellent physical properties over a range of temps. from -100 degrees C to 250 degrees C, and a good resistance to oxygen and detergents.</p> |
