<p>Catalytic oxidation esp. of H2S, SO2, mercaptans, COS2, CS2 by contact with aq. solutions of organic oxidants e.g. bis-beta-hydroxyethyl sodium glycinate, diethylene-triaminopentacetic acid, beta-hydroxymethyl-iminodiacetic acid and complex forming metals from groups II, V, and VIII esp. Fe, Cu is used for purification of effluent gases, combustion gases etc. Oxygen (>0.30%) is added either to the purification column or separately. Sulphur is separated from the wash liquors by reduction to elemental S or organic sulphur/oxygen compounds. A wide range of compounds can be removed with one wash liquid in one operation, independent of pH of soln.</p> |
