PURPOSE: To obtain a metallic chelate compound, represented by a specific formula, having a high solubility in organic solvents, applicable to spread coating, good in sensitivity, excellent in light resistance and preservation stability and suitable as compact disk(CD) media. CONSTITUTION: This metallic chelate compound comprises (A) an azo compound of formula I (A is a residue capable of forming a heterocycle together with C atom and N atom to which A is bound; Z is a residue capable of forming an aromatic ring together with two C atoms to which Z is bound; X and X' are each H or a cation) with (B) a metal (e.g. Ni or Co). Furthermore, e.g. an amino compound of formula II is preferably diazotized and coupled with a substituted aniline derivative of formula III to provide an azo compound, which is then preferably reacted with a metallic salt in water and/or an organic solvent such as dioxane in order to afford the compound. |
