PURPOSE: To avoid the cleaning processing of an image transferred on an intermediate transfer body so as to prevent image transferring deterioration thereafter by preliminarily feeding a recording medium to a both-side unit in the case where the both-side unit is attached. CONSTITUTION: This device is provided with a recognizing means (main CPU 201) recognizing the attaching condition of the both-side unit 102 controlling the carrying of the recording medium in order to form an image on both sides of the recording medium to be carried, and a paper-feeding controlling means (main CPU 201, sub CPU 207) preliminarily feeding the recording medium to the unit 102 so as to make the recording medium retained in preparation for the paper feeding from the unit 102 in the case where the attachment of the unit 102 is recognized. When the main CPU 201 recognizes the attachment of the unit 102 based on the response condition of command to be transmitted to the CPU 207, the CPU 201 and the sub CPU 207 preliminarily feed the recording medium to the unit 102 so as to make the recording medium retained in preparation for the paper feeding from the unit 102. |
