PURPOSE: To prevent the normal expansion of an air bag from being disturbed by the return of a module cover, and prevent the vent hole of the air bag from being blocked by the module cover. CONSTITUTION: The conditions required by the shape, dimension and hardness of a module cover 13 and the shape, dimension and the like of a steering wheel 2 are so set that the module cover 13 is locked by the steering wheel 2 in a state that the module cover 13 is in an open condition to an anti-crew member side. When a vehicle collides so as to allow an air bag 21 to be expanded, the module cover 13 is thrown off to the anti-crew member side, creeps into the back side of the steering wheel 2, and finally gets out of the back side of the steering wheel 2. After that, the module cover 13 tries to get back to an original shape by its elastic restoring force, however since its kinetic energy is small, it is thereby locked by the steering wheel 2 in a state that it is opened to the anti-crew member side. |
