1322601 Mounting rotors of dynamo-electric machines ROTRON Inc 9 Sept 1970 [11 Sept 1969] 43195/70 Heading H2A The rotor 10 of an electric motor is mounted in a radial bearing assembly comprising a sleeve 22 fixed to the stator and a pin 20 fixed to the rotor and rotatably received in the sleeve, one end 26 of the pin forming a thrust face engaging a thrust bearing 28. The pin and sleeve may be made of ceramic material. The end 26 of the pins may be convex, as shown, and the bearing 28, carried in a sleeve 29 sealed in fluid tight manner in the sleeve 22, is then flat and may be a jewel such as sapphire or may be made of plastics or synthetic resin material. Alternatively the face 26 may be flat, Fig. 3 (not shown), or concave, Fig. 4 (not shown), the bearing 28 then being ball shaped. The fan motor shown is an external rotor hysteresis motor, the rotor carrying fins 41. Axial movement of the rotor away from the bearing 28 is limited by a resilient member 38 glued to a plug 34 adjustably mounted in the motor housing. A thrust bearing similar to the bearing 28 may be carried by the member 38.
