METHOD FOR SEGMENTING CONTENTS OF VIDEO BASED UPON H.261 ENCODING DATA

PURPOSE: To reduce the number of video frames to be practically observed for a video library. CONSTITUTION: The frame number of a video frame decoded by an H.261 decoding part 12 and displayed on a video display part 13 and corresponding relation indicating which video change includes the frame are instructed to a segmentation processing part 15. The decoding part 12 sends the frame number and MTYPE information to the processing part 15. A statistic feature acquiring part 16 acquires the frame number of a corresponding frame and the distribution of the MTYPE information in each video change of the frame and finds out a statistic feature. A detection processing part 22 reads out the bit stream of H.261 encoded video data from a storage part 11, acquires the distribution of MTYPE information in each frame by an MTYPE acquiring part 17 and sends the distribution to a segmentation control part 18, which sends the frame number to the storage part 11. The video display part 13 displays a frame having high possibility of imposition of a telop.
