PURPOSE: To supply an vacuum cleaner which can minutely adjust the maximum power consumption into its allowable region, even when that of an electrically driven air blower is beyond the allowable region of its rated value. CONSTITUTION: Even though the maximum power consumption of an electrically driven air blower 3 is beyond the allowable region of its rated value, the maximum power consumption is made minutely adjustable into its allowable region by installing, inn series with an operating variable resistor 15, a minutely adjusting variable resistor 6 which can change the value of resistance from 0Ωto its specified value in order to adjust the miximum power consumpotion of the electrically driven air blower 3.
