PURPOSE: To obtain the subject improver containing antithrombin-III of human origin as active ingredient, having placenta blood stream-improving action, and esp. effective for treating e.g. fetus development retardation in the uterus due to blood stream lowering. CONSTITUTION: This placenta blood stream improver contains antithrombin-III of human origin as active ingredient, and is formulated, into preparations such as powder, granules, tablets, capsules, syrup, injection, etc., by appropriately blending conventional additive(s) stabilizer, etc., thereto. Its daily dose is pref. 1-1000 units/kg body weight of adult (e.g. for intravenous administration, pref. 10-100 units). Increase in placenta blood stream enables a fetus to be protected during disease and to be developed normally in the mother, and this improver is highly safe to both mother and its fetus. The antithrombin-III can be purified from e.g. human whole blood, plasma, serum, or the serum obtained by squeezing coagulated blood, and is esp. pref. negative to HBs antigen, anti-HIV antibody and not higher than double the normal GTP value.
