PURPOSE: To smoothly finish a cut surface simultaneously with the completion of a cutting operation by cutting a work while blowing a mixed gas towards the cut opening end on the rear side of the work and thereby preventing dross from sticking or a sharp cut surface from remaining on the rear side of the work. CONSTITUTION: A metal forming the rear cut opening 18 of a work 15 is combined with oxygen preferentially by the action of oxygen in a mixed gas to form an oxidized film on the end of the opening 18. The oxidized film has a high absorptivity of a laser beam; therefore, if the rear cut opening end 18 of the work 15 is selectively heated up with the use of the high laser absorptivity, the particular place of the work is molten. In addition, by the jetting force of the mixed gas jetted towards the molten place, dross is isolatedly diffused from the rear of the work 15, smoothing the cut opening end of the work 15 and making it easy to obtain a product agreeable to the touch. |
