PURPOSE: To improve the performance of a heat developable photosensitive material as a medical photosensitive material. CONSTITUTION: This medical heat developable photosensitive material has at least one heat developable photosensitive layer contg. photosensitive silver halide crystals, an org. silver salt, a reducing agent and a binder and at least one nonphotosensitive binder layer on the transparent substrate. The iodine content of the silver halide crystals is 6-36mol%, the average grain size is 0.06-0.15μm and the amt. of the silver halide crystals applied is 0.1-0.5g/m<2> (expressed in terms of silver). This photosensitive material has the max. spectral sensitivity at 700-850nm by spectral sensitization with an infrared dye. The org. silver salt is a silver salt of long chain fatty acid and the amt. of the silver salt applied is 1.2-2.5g/m<2> (expressed in terms of silver). The infrared dye is contained in at least one of the photosensitive layer and the nonphotosensitive binder layer so that an absorption peak at 700-850nm is imparted.
