<p>PURPOSE: To realize a more accurate tracking control with a simple method. CONSTITUTION: At first, the CTL signal recorded in the CTL track of a tape is reproduced by a head 3 to perform a CTL servo. Next, the pilot signal recorded with a single frequency in the TPS area of the hilical track of the tape is reproduced by a head 1 and a timewise tracking deviation value is calculated by the pilot signal and a reference signal in an arithmetic circuit 9 and the aclculated result is added to the CTL signal as the offset value of the CTL servo and then the CTL servo is relocked. Finally, the pilot signal is treated as an RF signal and a maximum value detection with respect to this RF signal is performed in a detection circuit 7 and then an accurate tracking control is performed by the control method generally called as 'a mountain climbing control' in a judgement circuit 11. Since the frequency of the pilot signal to be used for the tracking control is made to be a single, the circuit constitution is made simple.</p> |
