<p>PURPOSE: To downsize a device so as to improve mounting layout and heighten heat radiating performance by installing a switching module for controlling a primary current to flow intermittently according to ignition timing, in a position overlapped with the side core of a core and in the axial direction of the core. CONSTITUTION: A primary coil 2 is wound around the center core 6a of a core 6 formed of the center core 6a and a side core 6b. A secondary coil 4 is concentrically wound on the outside of the primary core 2, and a primary current is controlled to flow intermittently according to ignition timing by a switching module 9. In such an ignition device for an internal combustion engine, a coil part composed of the primary coil 2 and the secondary coil 4, and the switching module 9 are so arranged as not to be opposed to each other. The switching module 9 is arranged in proximity to the side core 6b of the core 6, and a connector 8 is positioned in a space in contact with the secondary coil 4 and the switching module 9.</p> |
