[Also in Division B1] An exhaust steam condensing and de-aerating plant comprises spaced-apart tube bundles 2, 2<SP>1</SP>, 2<SP>11</SP>, in which the tubes extend between end plates 11, the shape of each bundle defining an interior space 8 within the bundle, the bundles being separated by flow ducts 4, 4<SP>1</SP>, 4<SP>11</SP> of dimensions comparable in magnitude to the bundles 2, 2<SP>1</SP>, 2<SP>11</SP>. Steam flowing in the ducts 4, 4<SP>1</SP>, 4<SP>11</SP> is drawn through the bundles by an extractor (not shown) for the non-condensable gases and uncondensed steam connected to a cooler 9 located within the hollow interior of the tube bundles 2, 2<SP>1</SP>, 2<SP>11</SP>. The bundles 2, 2<SP>1</SP> , 2<SP>11</SP> are so shaped as to present a decreasing width of flow duct 4, 4<SP>1</SP>, 4<SP>11</SP> in the direction of flow of the steam. De-aeration is achieved by means of a de-aerator located in the cooler 9. Fig. 2 (not shown), in the form of a perforate plate (13) or a cascade de-aerator, Fig. 3 (not shown).</p> |
