[Also in Division C2] Liquid vinyl resins are stabilized by including an organotin compound prepared by reacting dioctyl tin oxide and a dioctyltin bis (thioglycollic acid ester), whose alcohol residue is a C 6 -C 18 alkyl group, at 50-250‹C. (see Division C2). The compound contains 12-26% tin. The resin may be a vinyl chloride homopolymer or copolymer and may include a plasticizer; in an example a composition is prepared by blending the stabilizer with a 100: 10 polyvinyl chloride-ABS mixture at 350‹ F. |
