The device includes a tracer gear wheel (6) mounted on a drive gear wheel which is in driving connection with two further driving gearwheels (1,3). The tracer wheel is fixed displaceable and rotatable on the drive gearwheel by suitable means and can be set against the free tooth flanks of the other two gearwheels. The fixing means can be bearing devices such as axial bearings set on the driving gearwheel so that the tracer wheel is guided coaxially or almost coaxially and parallel to the gearwheel and is both rotatable and displaceable in a plane parallel to same.
