Production method involving the selection of a first block from a first hot working material and a second block from a second hot working material. A gear crown body (12) is produced from the first block and a ring-shaped gear wheel hub body (14) is made from the second block. The gear crown body is joined to the wheel hub body. The gear crown preform is made by forging and the gear teeth are produced around the circumference by helicoidal milling.
