A mixer has a trough in which the ingredients are mixed by rotor blades slung from an overhead drive, and a vibrator assembly which agitates the ingredients. The novelty is that the vibrator (24) is located in the trough (2) within ingredients (16), and that the vibrator (24) is secured to a holding fixture (22) which is linked to a conductor (36) supplying electrical, pneumatic or hydraulic energy to the vibrator. The holding fixture (22) incorporates an elastic insert (32) and is linked to the mixer rotor (6) by means of an elastic bearing (46). The elastic insert (32) is located above the max. depth (18) of the ingredients in the trough.
