Nitrilo (tri propyl tris(ethylidene bis(di-tert.-butyl:phenyl)) phosphite

A cpd. 1,1'-1"-nitrilo (tri-2-propyl-tris(2,2'-ethylidene-bis (4,6-di-tert.-butylphenyl)) phosphite of formula (I) is new. The cpd. has a glass transition temp. (Tg) of 137-142 deg C. (DSC) and an X-ray diffraction pattern which is featureless. The prepn. of the amorphous form of (I) involves heating a melt of (I) and rapidly cooling. A compsn. with stability against thermal, oxidn. and actinic-induced degradation comprises an organic material subjected to degradation and an effective stabilising amt. of (I).
